Breast Cancer Awareness 2018
No matter who you are or where you live, there’s a pretty good chance that breast cancer has touched your life in one way or another. Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the U.S. and around the world. In 2018, about 266,120 women will be diagnosed in the U.S. alone.
Progress in treatment and early detection has led to improved survival for people of all ages and races, and with all stages of breast cancer. In fact, there are more than 3.5 million breast cancer survivors in the U.S. today (more than any other group of cancer survivors).
The Chillicothe VAMC’s Women’s Health Service provides comprehensive breast care for both women and men thru their Primary Care teams. Clinical breast exams are provided by the Women's Health Providers and mammograms, breast ultrasounds, breast MRI's, breast biopsies are ordered as needed. VA staff also coordinate care for any abnormal results, including surgeries, breast cancer care coordination and breast re-constructive surgeries. In addition, VA providers offer consultation referrals for high risk breast cancer genetic counseling and screening.Women’s Health Primary Care hours are 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday – Friday, with some Saturdays, excluding holidays.
