In May of 2010, President Barack Obama signed the Caregivers and Veterans Omnibus Health Services Act of 2010 into law. Every VA Medical Center now has a full time Caregiver Coordinator to help Veterans understand this new law.
What does the new law mean?
• Family members or friends who help take care of Veterans may be able to get help from your VA medical center.
• What type of help? In home support, education, counseling.
• Who qualifies? All Veterans regardless of era of military service are eligible, but other factors besides period of military service such as health care needs have to be taken into account.
